My newest Tokay

Dakman Mar 17, 2004 10:49 PM

This ones hudge, bout the size of a penny. Came home last night and it was hanging on the front glass of the adult tank. Putting my fingers near it didn't faze it, unusual cause they normally speed away and hide. I could tell it had just hatched so I reached in to be sure it was ok. It let me pick it right up without trying to get away or showing its teeth, which is normal. Might be my next very tame one.

My "newest" Tokay:

After I sold all the rest (at least I thought so) of my 2003/4 Tokay offspring at the Hamm expo last weekend, I awoke last night from the call of a juvenile male tokay.
That was impossible, because all had been sold and it was definitely not the call of one of my adults.
But obviously there was still something there.....
apparently one baby must have managed to escape somewhen without being noticed by me and this guy must have grown up roaming free in the herp room without ever showing up.
I checked all suspicious places and finally spotted a Tokay of approx 10-11" sitting at the backside of a daygecko tank.
So far he obviously has not harmed the numerous Cosymbotus which run free in that room, but of course I´ll do my best to catch him.
Funny things happen

Thats funny. Must of been an escapee pretty long. I had one get out once, real small, but found him scittering across the front of the tank one night when I came home. He was only a few inches long. I just sold off all mine too and have at least 3 again already.

Hello. Would you be interested in trading for some baby whiteline geckos. Iwould love to acquire some captive bred tokays. I would even be willing to drive or ship if someone could tell me how. Thanks,
Aaron

Beautiful specimen. I want to keep a Tokay do you know any places where I can get a good caresheet. Do I need a vetically oriented tank or can I use a plain 10 gallon tank?

Not only do you need a vertically oriented tank, you also need at least a 40 gallon or so for juveniles if you want them to thrive and 70 for adults.
