OK, what's the secret?

Passport Jun 11, 2003 07:29 PM

How in the world do you put your small & medium size corns in a deli cup? I know there must be a secret to this. A couple of my yearling corns arrived in them. After examining them I tried to replace them in their little dish. What a joke. Lightning fast they are and determined not to to in. So, how is it done? This is like trying to figure out a magician's trick. Is there slight of hand involved? Or some technique that uses some clever thought? Or just plain patience?

LOL

you sound like alot of people....

story:

friend came to my table at a show once....had a little hondurensis in 8 oz deli cup...said it took him forever to get it back into cup after looking at it to buy....I laughed...he says..oh yea...lets' see you do it faster....(other friend was laughing...he knew where this was going)....so...I said "time me"....give me less than 10 seconds....GO!...I opened cup ,pulled out snake....waved it around and said good enough...put it back into cup and cloeed lid...handed it to him ...all in maybe 6 seconds...(while third friend laughed a good one)...enough said....

so

practice...

and...

for year old stuff we do use 6 3/4 inch cups now....(they even make 9 3/4 inch cups too in different heights...)...

good luck....practice....and (reptilepackaging.com for cups)

have fun

What works for me: I put the head of the snake in the deli tub with the lid on top of the snake and then gently tap the tail of the snake and the snake goes right in. Six seconds is way too slow! LOL

p.s. before you snap the lid tight, make sure that the tail is in completely.

I always stick the whole body in and hold the head between my thumb and forefinger while closing the lid with my other hand. I give a little push to the head as I pop the lid closed. Sometimes the tail will start to pop out, but I kind of "guard" against that with the hand that is closing the lid.

Wow, it is a lot easier AND FASTER to DO it than to SAY it!

Sounds like Don's way COULD be easier to master than the way I do it. But regardless of the method used, after a few thousand (maybe even just a few hundred) times of doing it, you become VERY good at it and wonder why it ever used to be a problem!
