Silkworms

jacksonsrule Mar 18, 2004 11:39 AM

Are silkworms slow-moving?

Are they prone to cling to branches, or do they ususally drop off?

thanks

Silkworms are very slow. They have lots of tiny sticky feet that cling to most surfaces. If your interested in reading more about them, or trying them out, you can check out http://www.californiasilkworms.com.

yup, they'll stick. It's always a good idea to make sure they are secure on a branch before releasing them (letting them go). They are not quite as "clingy" as hornworms and many other caterpillars, but once they are on they are fine

Great! Fortunately my Jackson's will eagerly eat as many crickets as I will give him, and always has (I know, I'm lucky). But I was thinking of trying Silkworms to vary his intake a little.

Do they bite like superworms do?

lele Mar 18, 2004 03:21 PM

No, they don't bite at all - they are very docile creatures. Here is a site with lots of info and also check out John's article on ChamNews for set up etc. (scroll down into article) www.chameleonnews.com/year2003/oct2003/baby_feeding/baby_feeding.html
