UVB Heat bulbs...

Totman Mar 18, 2004 11:57 AM

I am curious to see if anyone has had any experience with using UVB Heat bulbs instead of the traditional Heat lamp + plus UVB tube and wanted to know how they compare. Any information that you can provide would be helpful.

Thank you.

I use the Powersun mercury vapor bulb, I think it is great. It keeps the tank nice and hot and my dragon has never been better. They last a lot longer than some I have tried, the Capture the Sun bulbs burn out very quickly. They do need a good porcelin or ceramic fixture that is very deep, and your tank should be fairly tall so the dragon can't get too close to it.

i use MVB for UV but i have found that it doesn't really put off enough heat for a good basking spot. i use a lower wattage MVB along with a basking bulb.
