Update on het hatched 4/14 weight and growth

Starling Jun 11, 2003 07:52 PM

I just took this pic today, she is under 2 months old, and weighs 26 grams already. Growing fast.

She has some really deep orange on her, looks like she will be reduced spotting or hypo.

they must have some outstanding parents.

The dad is a hypotangalbino het patternless purchased diret from Tremper in 2001, mom is a hardy and large reduced spotting yellow-normal w/ orangey hi-lights that exhibited exceptionally fast growth and tendency to get big and fat- she was 85 grams before I put her on a diet last year. Her offspring have also been fast growing. I now have the first tang albino from one of her hets, my goal is to breed some of her "hardiness", fast growth, and size into my albino line, adding vigor by outcrossing with new genetic material with these hardy qualities.

Thank you! I am hoping the particular tang albino you mention turns out especially nice, she should turn all orange on her body if she follows her parentage, though she was mainly pink when she hatched, see attached pic of clutch below. Time will tell, watching them grow is part of the fun, I will keep everyone posted on her development. She has changed a lot in just five days, so it should be interesting to watch.

I got two fresh fertile eggs from her mom this morning, same hyptang albino father. Am incubating those for male. Hopefully at least one will be an albino.
