display cage/viv for corn

tortusjack Mar 18, 2004 02:19 PM

I'd like to make a display cage/viv for a friend who has a corn, but the idea is to have it in the main house room on show yet for it to be "vine decorated etc".

The whole idea is to get away from the usual square shape with only one base/floor.
Something along the lines of multi floor or ??

Q... are corns an arboreal type of snake or is it normal for them to stay at "ground level only", in which case multi floor would be pointless.

Thanks
graham

All the corn snakes I've had so far have loved to climb. It should be safe to say that they would make use of the multilevel cage. However, the cage should be made in a way that will compensate for them falling. Despite my snakes loving to climb around in their cages, they aren't always the most graceful creatures either. Mine are constantly falling off things. You wouldn't want the snake to get very high and then fall a great height, possibly to break some ribs, etc. In a large cage you also have to take into consideration the heating. The heat can vary a huge amount in a large cage.
