digging holes?

shakey0urbutt Jun 11, 2003 07:58 PM

i just got a new beardie today. Shes about 3 months old. I just went to check on her and i couldnt find her..she had dug a hole in the woodchips under her basking spot. She had completly burried herself. Could she be to hot? her tank is about 95 degrees now. She has a shady spot to go to to cool down, but is it normal for beardies to dig holes?

Some beardies just like to dig, it's normal. Two things caught my eye though, you said the tank temp is 95? Is that the basking temp? If so, it should be 100-110 degrees with a cool end of 85. The other thing was "woodchips", those are a huge no-no. If your beardie eats just one pc., whether on purpose or accident, it could be fatal. Please remove them and replace with an appropriate substrate. If your beardie is at least 10" it could be on washed playsand or bran flakes. If less then 10", paper towel.
