Generally speaking you should be feeding your snake prey items that are no more than one and a half times the girth of the snake - two times the girth at the maximum. Also, by the time it reaches 6 1/2 feet, the snake should also be getting at least a two week break between feedings, not just 7 days.

If you snake is in the 6 1/2' range and the rabbit is correctly weighing in at 1.5 pounds I think it will be okay, but definetely not too small. My 6 1/2' male weighs in around 7 pounds, and I generally feed my snakes a food item that is 1/6 there weight. (I actually documented the weight of each snake and the weight of each feeder for 2 months and when feeding an "appropriately sized" feeder the proportion in weight was 1/5-1/6. For example my female hypo that weighed 1 pound 8 ounces at the time and 44" in length was on medium rats that weighed in at 4-6 ounces each. (and I was told that the feeders were too small for her because "they aren't big enough around in comparison"
