Where to buy rubbermaid or sterilite tubs?

dawgball79 Mar 18, 2004 02:46 PM

i have looked around and found perfect sizes on the net for my ball python rack. But i need to finish it tomorrow. I can not find them in stores. The size i am looking for is anything close to a 33x16x6. does anyone know where i can get some around this size at a store, and what store? Thanks a ton. Preferably ones with the locking lids too. thanks

i buy all mine at either lowes or home depot. my lowes has a very large section of rubbermaids and sterilites, as well as many smaller name companies

i'm pretty sure you'll find what your looking for at one of these stores.

hope this helps.

the approx. size your looking for is a sterilite 41qt. tub (#1960n).i recently built a 10 hole rack using these length wise exposed.then you can also use a blanket box (#1956) or a sweater box (#1954n2) in the same opening, the sweater boxes (3 to a level)need a thin spacer on the bottom for a very tight fit for hatchlings.

i found a sterilite 41 qt. at my local lowes. I am not sure if it is a 1960n but it is very close to 34x16x6, give or take an 1/8 of an inch here or there. Is this the size you were talking about? it isnt the kind with the locking lid, just the regular old snap on one. You wouldnt happen to have a pic of your rack would you? And if i understood you correctly, you have the 34" side exposed to the front of the rack to see through? so when youre looking at it from head on in front of it, it runs the greater width of left to right rather than the deeper way? thanks youve been a great help.

no pix,but you have the right idea.the 41qt. is sideways that is the 34" side shows, the same with the blanket box,it's the same width as the 41qt.,it's just shorter.the sweater box fits in length wise , that is the end faces out.in this 10 hole rack you could have 10 41qt. boxes or 10 sweater boxes and 10 blanket boxes or 30 sweater boxes.once your snakes are out of hatchling size you can house yearlings, sub adults, and adults colubrids and many other species.like i said earlier you could house hatchlings in the sweater boxes, just make sure of a tight fit.this layout is very versitile.i hope i've made this clear,if not i'll try to get a photo.the #'s on the sterilite boxes are on the paper labels and also embossed on the bottom.the size of this rack is 36 1/4 wide,66 3/4 tall and 19 deep.it has a 2" kick plate on the bottom.to make it more efficient i've glued 3/4 foam board insulation on the bottom and back.if i make another one i'll make it 17" deep.i have also housed snakes in boxes with lids,i drilled 6 holes thru the lid and the lip it catches on and ran s hooks thru and attached small chains to keep the s hooks from being lost.if you go this route you will get tired of hooking and unhooking quickly.i hope this helps.

not sure if that place is a chain store but if you have one near you , they have lots of rubbermaids. They have litterally 100's of them.
