frilled in a 55 gallon

I have had my baby frill for about 2 weeks and moved him from a 20 gal tall to a 55 gal, how long will he be able to stay in the 55? Also my frill climbs to the highest brach and starts to arm wave, is it normal considering he is in the room by himself, or is he waving to me? How long should I wait before I can start trying to tame him, any hints on hand taming?
