Normal???

alastair Mar 18, 2004 06:04 PM

i just put my BP in a new tank, all the temp's and humidity are right on the mark, but for the past 2 days he has stayed in a hiding box that is more on thenwarmer side of the tank. I don't think he has come out yet. Is this normal???

Thanks!

Your BP is probably adjusting to its new enviroment. Which can sometimes take a couple of weeks. Just give it time he will adjust and start acting normal again. Also while adjusting to the new enclosure he may not eat for awhile.

Thats what i thought, i offered him food the second day he was in the tank and he refused it, but i left it in the tank overnight, still there, then i put it under a hide box and i think its gone. (i didn't want to disturb my BP but when i lifted up the hide box, there was no mouse!) I thought for sure that he did not want to eat, but i think he did!

Thanks for the help!

what are your temps and humidity? "right on the mark" isn't very specific and can range from 85-92 (hot end) and 75-80 (cool end) for temps. and for humidity can range from 30-75% so right ont he mark doens't really say much. But if you have only had it for a couple of days then they are probably getting adjusted.

the temp right now is 90 and the humidity is at 60%, i think the humidity could probably be about 10% higher but thats ok right?

Thanks!

Yes this is quite normal it is there safe house, a place where they can feel secure. They will also retreat to there hide box during shed time also. Don't worry he will come out on his own when he is ready.
