Hey all,
Okay, I've produced P. curtus curtus years back but never saw the ovulation event. Here is a pic of what I 'think' may be ovulation?! This snake refuses to eat and the tail has that shrunken look like Ball Pythons get when the ovulate. The lower mid-section is not as distended as I usually see with my Ball Pythons, but since the P. curtus complex is typically SO heavy bodied, I was not sure I would even see an ovulation. The kicker here is that I bought this adult pair of Borneos a couple years back and never knew which was male or female (or both being same sex as I had no luck last season with them reproducing). I always thought this to be the male and the larger to be the female. Hope I'm proven wrong!
Wish I fed 'her' a little more late in the season... oh well! I also took all of the mulch out to allow better belly contact with the heat tape and I will eventually place slightly damp moss in the bin to allow for egg deposition (near the calculated due date should this be the ovulation). Any more experienced Borneo breeder input appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt
