can you sex a corn with out probing it?
-YES, but its not nearly as accurate. Popping the hemipenes in hatchling corns worked well for me in the past. Now I prefer sexing by probing ever since a friend carefully showed me how BUT it requires two people to probe AND a skilled person to do it without harming the snake.
I have 1.1 and looking at one of them near the end of the tail the snakes body goes from a gentle taper and them drops a bit then tapers again. the other snake doesnt have this. i was/am thinking the one with the "dip" is th male, am i correct in my observation?
-It can vary greatly meaning its not the most accurate way to determine sex. I have many corns that, if using that method, their tails would fool most people. In females, the tail tapers quickly while the males have thicker tails past the vent and do not taper as much.
also i see the corn snake manual recommended alot is it really required reading?
- YES, it will answer every & any question a new corn snake owner may have, as well as an experienced person. Many experienced people recommend it and few of them mention that they probably refer to it often, or have read it so much they've memorized it.
