New to Beardies. when will she start to eat and get acclimated?

irismybeardie Mar 19, 2004 12:22 AM

hello, i am new to the bearded dragon world. i have a 5-6 month old beardie(i guesstimate 6 inches nose to vent) "Iris" i bought from a local pet store (that specializes in herps) and although i've done much research and have the "book knowledge", i want to know what "works". i got my beardie on Tuesday night, and it does not appear that she is eating much at all. i have offered her grapes, tomatoes, and Rep-Cal, all to no avail.

is there a "acclimation" time that new beardies normally dont eat when moved into a new cage with new surroundings ater that terrible ride home? any suggestions on specific "beardie salads"? i always keep about a half dozen crickets in the cage, and doesnt look like she's eaten any of them either. think she's just too stressed right now to chow down?

Beardies do get stressed and it does effect them ,the first couple of time i took mine outside they got freaked out so i put them back in there cage and they didnt move for the rest of the day but they got used to it..anyways i think yur beardie just needs some time to adjust

Just a question do you keep crickets in the cage overnight,If you do i would suggest that you dont becuase crickets have been known to chew on beardies while they are sleeping and you could have toes missing and such ..hope your beadie adjusts good luck

a good site for beardie foods is http://www.beautifuldragons.com/
look under Nutrition Content to find out the best foods for your beardie to eat.
