Zaocys carinatus: already posted...but too late !!!

Ruggero Mar 19, 2004 05:42 AM

This specimen was a huge W.F. taken near Mantin (Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia).
It was very wild and bad as attitude, as you can see.

Another beautiful species which you can find in Malaysia, very different in color, is Zaocys fuscus: I've seen 2 W.C. specimens in the terraria of my malay friend, male and female.
I like Zaocys very much, but it's impossible to find them in Europe, even as W.C. specimens !

Outstanding specimen!
I love them.

I assume you left it there, and did not take it home?

I left it in its terrarium of my malay friend.
I've heard that Zaocys are opystogliphous...is it true ?

I understand! Would be nice to have a breeding pair over here in Europe.

I don't think they are ophistoglyph, but their saliva contains a cocktail of a rather large quantity of neurotoxical components.
Dr. Bryan G. Fry did a work on that.

For further info visit his website http://www.venomdoc.com
or post in the forum there.

hope I could help,
gurkee
