Hanging Pothos

trinacliff Mar 19, 2004 06:57 AM

Is anyone in here using hanging Pothos in their cages? If so, how did you hang it? Mine came with this huge hook that I needed to take off since it wouldn't work with it (it hung way too low)...so I can't figure out a good way to hang it. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

Well, if the basket comes with wire, I would suggest replacing it with rope or something, so you can adjust the height.

The long hook thing mine came with was short enough to hang and it is plastic. I am going to put a climbing limb or two through the hanger to allow entrance to the pothos (which already has about 7 vines hanging right to the floor! what a great plant!!!). To hang it, you could shorten the wire or just deal with the length of the thing. I use eyelets (those round thing you screw into wood to hang stuff on) on each side of a corner and wrap vunyl-coated wire around each of them and tie it up so there arent any sharp ends. This is rustproof and strong. The wire going between the corners is used to hang the hook thingy on.
Good luck hanging the pothos

I have a hanging Pothos in one of my cages. The cage is 4x4x2 and made of wood. There is a wooden brase that runs across the middle on the top and I put a screw in that piece and hung the plant from it. I didn't take the plastic hook that came on the plant off so the plant hangs about mid level. I did however wrap some of the vines up around it. In addition to this plant I also have another Pothos that sits in a corner and an Umbrella tree in the other corner.
