It sounds like you have either a mountain kingsnake or a milksnake. I would need a little more info to have a clue to why your snake is feeling irritable. Almost all snakes get that way when they're in their shed cycle. How long has this been going on for? Does the snake have a good place to hide? 85 degrees is great for the warm side of an enclosure, but they should have access to cooler temps (around 75) as well. The more info you give, the more people here can help you.

the warmest the 50gal tank is 85 on one side, and 65-75 other side. she has gone through two shed cycles and in between she still was that way. i've had her for bout 3yrs and never had this. now in the past few wks, she's gotten better with me, but still this way with my roomates wife who she always wanted to be held by. she has plenty of areas to hide and has plenty of water. now she has always been picky about eating when she is ready to. there have been times when she'll go for a month and other times ever week as i try. she has had a point were she wouldn't eat a small mouse and had to go back to a fuzzy, but she now is eating mice again. other then this anything you need bare with me as to i can't check this too often.
