What kind is this? (Photo attached)

Can someone tell me what kind of snake this is? He is photographed on a half-sheet of paper (8 1/2" X 5 1/2"

He's about the size of our DeKay's Brown Snake, but not the same markings...a little more red behind the ears.
Any ideas?

What does its belly look like? Does it have black spots on its lower sides, down close to the belly??

With the red on the sides and the markings, Im kind of leaning towards a kirtlands. (Clonophis kirtlandii)

Can you take another pic with a little more detail.

Does it have keeled scales. Kind of reminds me of Nerodia.
