nice...now not so nice

our 3 or 4 yr old female iguana (we adopted her a year ago this month) was the sweetest thing. we were so amazed at how tame she was whenever we adopted her. we had no idea where she came from or who owned her before. when we got her we took her to out reptile vet who checked her all over. she had no worms and had GREAT bone density (she had x-rays). anyway, she has just always been the nicest girl. about 2 months ago she stopped eating so much and started getting a little agitated. well, needless to say she laid 27 eggs a little while after that. she wouldn't eat, she wouldn't drink...it was awful. i got a bag of lactated ringers from the vet and gave her injections everyday twice a day for 5 days until she got better. she just pooped HUGE for the first time in a month about a week ago. the thing is she is so not friendly now. she doesn't bite but she tail whips and hisses and lifts herself up showing her big bad dewlap. i'm wondering if maybe this will stop soon. have any of you ever had this happen?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that "injecting her twice a day with lactated ringers solution" had a LOT to do with the attitude change...I will also guess that time, handfeeding and TLC will eventually bring her around...

Are you SURE she wasn't drinking on her own while she was gravid? I make sure my female has access to a dish of water all the time, and while she's gravid I will see her drinking fairly often and fairly deeply from her bowl..You can also try a gentle spray from a spray bottle and more frequent baths to try and get her to drink...Usually you don't have to resort to sub.q fluids for a normal period of gravidity...
