Petrosaurus Breeding Partnership

mattkot Mar 19, 2004 02:20 PM

I have a three year old female petrosaurus that I've just begun warming after a four-month cool period. Typically she goes into color about a month or so after warming.

The first year I had no male and she layed a clutch of 6 infertile eggs. The next year I found a male to partner her with but again no fertile eggs. As I understand it that male is no longer in my area (Southern California) and I'm wondering who is working with these great animals. I'd like to pair the female up with a male again this year and see if I can't get a fertile clutch.

Anyone?

Matt

Hi Matt, Is your female a petrosaurus thalasinnus?
I've been working with them for the last five years. Have produced clutches in the last two years and hopefully a third this season as one and maybe two of my females are displaying some nice gravid colors and gaining good egg weight. I agree, they are great animals ... if you can find them available. Give me a private e-mail if you like and we'll talk in more detail.

Thanks John E ... don't you ever do any work? ... LOL!
