Feeding

Can anybody tell me if it's ok to feed snakes girbils? It seems to me that there is little to no difference between a girbil and a mouse, but I wanted to see what you guys thought of the idea.

Gerbils cost more then mice and if you have your snakes feeding on gerbils and happen to run out they may not want to go back to mice.
