I was sold the exact same snake as a Sinaloan Milk Snake for 85 british pounds from a reputable reptile retailer, was I ripped off and is this a common mistake?

Have a closer look first. Does yours have black tipping like this?
Brian HighWaterHerps

Exactly the same tipping mate, when I first got it I thought it wasnt a nice sinalaon specimin or I then guessed it was a nelsons or some sort of cross. Just to go to show the incompetence of the retailer they were also gonna sell me a pyro king thinking it was a mexican milk LOL.
I would consider yourself lucky, L.t.conanti are not exactly in abundance. How about some pics.

I will post some pics as soon as I get a digital camera, but to be honest its an exact replica of the one in your pic, when I saw that pic I thought it was my one. But seriously I cant find much info on LT Conanti, how big do these guys get?
You'll be looking at 40-50 inches.
Does he have lighter pigment on top of his head in the black?

Mark, This is a shot of one of my Sinalones? Is the snout completely black or is it lighter like this fellow?

Another clue will be the shape of the head. Sinaloans have a more pronounced head than the conants.
This is a sinaloan.

And this is a Conants head. Notice the darker coloration on the upper head. This a trait of the conants. Acually, on closer inspection myself...there isn't alot of difference in the head shape except the colors and...
The conants has a blunt point at the nose. The darker scales on top of the head that go all the way through the white strip to the adjoining black strip.
The Sinaloan has a more blunt nose not pointing very much if at all. Also the lightening of the snout is a distinguishing trait.

The tip of its snout is white, the head isnt as pointed as your one but the bands on its body are identical
You've most likely got a sinaloan.
