I want to get a frog that doesn't need a lot of space. Would a pyxie frog be right for me
. Or should I get something different. Are the fatter frogs slower.
Thanks in advance,
Casina

No if you want a frog thats not going to take up space you do not want a pyxie, i recomend getting a green tree frog because thier small inexpensise and can be house in one of those plastic type of tanks. pyxies when at adult size can reach amazing sizes of up to 10 inch. in lentgh and width. and will need a approxmently 30 gal. tank because they will need a half water and half land setup, which is a prity big investment if you think about it.
Adult male pyxies need at least a 50 gallon tank, as most people suggest.

Hi there:
I keep a Pyxie frog, and he actually doesn't need that much room. From the day I got him, he burrowed down ito the substrate, and always stays in his cave, until it comes time to clean out his cage. I gave him plenty of room to move around, but no. He just buroowed down in there and that's his life. I keep the substrate plenty moist, but these guys really aren't that active. I also keep green tree frogs, but they don't do well in cheap, plastic vivaria. My green tree frogs are in a 20 gallon high with a green anole, brown anole, and a day gecko. Those guys need flourescent lights, tropical plants and lots of space. They are also social. Mine do very well, but if your limited on space, a green tree frog is not a very good choice.

First of all, a pyxie frog DEFINITELY requires more room than a green tree frog. An adult male pyxie needs a 50 gallon tank. Mine uses the full range of his tank. As for mixing species in your tank, bad idea. I could maybe understand mixing the anoles and what not, but keeping diurnal and nocturnal species together could pose a problem with feeding, as well as stress. I will not even start on keeping the day gecko (which is from MADAGASCAR) in the same tank.

I suggest getting a horned frog. They can get by in about 10 gallons of tank space.
