HELP!!!! FRANTIC!!!!

pepe15 Mar 19, 2004 07:10 PM

Ok, dumb, just dumb...but i have left the top of the cage off so we could get in and out of it easier thinking that there was no way Zeus could get out. WRONG!!!!! Not just 20mins ago was studying in front of the cage and now gone. Only good news is he just ate and had a drink of water....but then again he needs heat to help his tummy digest. ANY thing you could suggest would be great. We are looking under couchs and along edges of anything. Poor guy is only 6 inches long.

I had a ball python get out and I was frantic and upset, like you. Looked for hours. Indesperation, I sat myself down and decided to 'think l;ike a snake'. Reptiles are very sensitive to heat. I looked around and the only warm place from a snake's point of view was the bottom of the refrigerator where the condenser is. And, that's where he was!
I am hoping for a quick reunion for you and your lizard....

i set up his climbing log in the middle of the living room with the lamp set on it so he could find a warm spot if he needed it. it's the only thing i can do for right now b/c i have to go take a final. i hope i can concentrate!

Sometimes while my girl is out and about she likes to find a dark corner and take a nap! We've found her behind the entertainment center, or nuzzled in corners fast asleep.

Little beardies love to find a spot to tuck their nose in and go to sleep, but they wake up hungry. The also love to climb up inside cloth, like curtains or hanging clothes. They do not stray far from the area lost in usually.

We've had others find them by using a cricket keeper cage or something similiar, put a few crickets in it and near by where he was lost. The baby dragons will stop them and he can climb the side to get the crickets and then can not get out due to the type lip it has and he gladly eats the few crickets you put in and then waits to be found. Only put a few crickets in it or the container you make so they do not nibble on him.

The cage is like the one on this link, that is the P5 one, with the mesh side and red top. BAit shops also carry them or you can make one like it. We keep one here just in case for this reason.

Another idea is if you have wood or tile floors, to sprinkle some flour around in the corners, you can them see tracks if he is moving around during the day and the possible location he is hiding in.

how long can a baby beardie stay out without food or misting and be ok? In otherwords, would it be better to just give the cricket keeper a chance to work or simoply tear apart the house looking for the little guy? thanks.
