Congratulations on then new boy!

I think the snake might enjoy the humidity box along with another regular hide spot. I feel that the more options you give the snake the better it will do at finding the optimal conditions it needs... just like offering a temperature gradient.. Humidity is definitely an important option for boas to have. When my boas are going through a shed I usually give them a humidity box.. something like what you talked about. I use a small plastic rubbermaid type box with a lid on it and a hole cut in the side.. and I put moist paper towels inside - which I change daily. Sometimes they will seem to want to LIVE inside that little box..

good luck with the new guy,
Patrick
