"hugging the water bowl"

I read somewhere that when female Ball Pythons coil around their water bowl it is a sign of them being gravid, is this true or is it another myth?

I saw it on a web site that it means they are gravid. Then I opened up a couple of cages and saw my males doing same thing and laughed out loud.

This behavior is not associated with gravid females, but has been associated with female in follicular development. The animals are simply trying to get cooler by doing this. A gravid female tends to seek out temps in the mid to high 80's (i.e. you should expect a gravid female to bask more often than those that are not gravid).
