Black Rat Hunting

thesnakeman Mar 19, 2004 09:58 PM

Well folks it's getting warmer, and herping season is right around the corner. And just like every year I'll be out looking for the one that got away. When I was about 13, I spotted a black rat snake which was at least 8 ft. long maybe more. It was so big, that my dad would'nt let me touch it. I was devistated, and I've been looking for one like that black and red giant ever since. That was in north Arkansas. I now live in southern Missouri. Every year I catch 2 or 3 and letem go. I hear lot's of stories, but I haven't seen one even close to that big brute. Does anyone know what types of places and times are best for finding these? Any hints would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for a record. And if anyone wants to go with me this year, just drop me a line. Thanks,
Tony Carlisle
