For Terry or anyone else familar with the Deckert

sullman Mar 19, 2004 10:36 PM

I posted a picture of a snake that was sold to me last year as a 'yellow rat snake' BUT after Terryp posted he looked like a Deckert I kind of think he actually might be a Deckert. He has a very bright yellow throat,a pinkish type belly and a black tounge with a hint of red. I am going to take some pictures this weekend but here is one for a quick look. Not the best picture since it was done with a webcam but you can notice how his eyes are orange/red.

I had a trio of deckerts and kept them like I do my everglades. Go to Dwight Good's website at www.dwightgood.com. Go to the species section and look at the Keys rat snake/ Deckerts picture and what do you think? Good luck. You have a very nice looking snake.

as they occur in the wild as a natural intergrade. They are pretty variable, and if you can, take a good pic of it and send it to Dwight Good. I bet he can ID it for ya.
