i have recetly purchased what i belive to be a female wd. she is approx. 14-16" total lenghth. i currently have a male housed in a 5'x5'x5' emclosure, he is about 26". what type of typical behavior is going to be exibitited by the male upon intodruction of the female? he seems to be very teritorial at the moment. is this to establish dominancy? hes been bobbing his head, and on occasion, chases her. yesterday, he was bitting at her neck area? she does bobb her head back, or anything? i would really be grateful on anyones insight or advice

i think 14-16" is way too small, for one you cant make a positive guess at the sex but you could mae a preyyt good guess, but if she did get gravid shes way too small and young, i didnt let my male live or bree with my female til she was about 20 1/2" long.

i was pretty sure she wasnt gravid. i was really unsure of how my male would act. i guess i thought that he would welcome her with open arms...god knows if i was an adult and never had contact with a female....id have the barry manilow playing and the candles lit with nice bottle of wine...lol...
last night my male layed on her back, she spun around so that they were head to head...and gave him a little head butt...he just left. so i think she is doing better..thanks for all input

They shouldn't be housed together, she is way too small. He could injure her, and he will try to mate with her and she is too young. Don't put them together again until she is over 20 inches long. There will be some licking, arm waving, head-bobbing and charging when you put them together.
