I would to know what frog does well in room temperature and does not need special lighting?
im thinking mantellas. Anyone have any sugestions?
There are many species of frogs that will live well at room temperature (68F-72F) and don't need any special type of lighting. Mantella frogs can be a little sensative, especially wild caught animals, but once they are established they are a pleasure to care for. Make sure to have plenty of fruit flies and other tiny feeder insects for the frogs to eat. For care information see http://www.amphibian.co.uk/mantella.html and http://www.amphibiancare.com/frogs/caresheets/goldenmantellafrog.html or even better buy the book titled Mantellas by Marc Staniszewski.
Most species of frogs from temperate areas will do well when kept at room temperature. You might want to look into true toads, Bufo species or true frogs, Rana species. I personally really enjoy keep Bufo, it's amazing to watch them hunt at night. Good luck,
