CHE's.....

lilroach56 Mar 20, 2004 04:21 PM

i am currently using Blue basking lamps in both my leo cage and BP cage. But they are both in my room and disrupt my sleep sometimes. And seein as how i wake up at 4 in the morning every day i need sleep. I have a couple questions about CHE's for those who use and have used them.

Do they put out the same amnt of heat as a similar wattage blue bulb (more specifically a 75 watt exo terra blue bulb)?
if they dont do they put out more or less heat?
how wide is the heat element (ie. diameter of the heating surface)?
what size dome lamp do they need?

Why don't you try using red bulbs?...the reptile red bulbs give off virtually no light, and the heat they give off should be the same as the daylight ones.

the red bulbs i tried using (exo terra brand) give off more light than the blue ones.
What brand gave off little light?
how long does that brand last?

ESU Reptile Red Heat Basking Lamps. I sleep with one on in my room and it doesn't disturb me at all because it basically doesn't give off any light...lol I usually can't even tell if its on unless its pitch black in the room and I can just barely see red on the surface it's pointed at, or if I look directly at the bulb to see the filaments (I use metal clamp lamps...so I normally can't see the bulb).

oh...I believe under $7...of course it depends on the wattage you use. I have 75 W bulbs. PETsMART I know carries them...their website has prices for them.
