how old to eat superworms?

jwr0201 Jun 11, 2003 10:34 PM

How old should a leo be before being offered superworms to eat? The ones that I've seen are HUGE! Thx - RR

I get small superworms from Komodoreptiles.com, not all of them that come are small enough, but I can pick out some from the bunch that are small enough to feed to my baby geckos that are approx. 2 to 3 weeks old (of coarse you can't always go by age, you should go by the size of the gecko). They absolutely love them!

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

I would never give a live, fully grown Zophobas to even an adult leopard gecko......
That being said, you can get younger Zophobas, to feed your leos--the size of the worms dictates the size of the leo that can eat them. Keep in mind they have hard shells, and strong jaws, so don't feed a worm that your leo can't easily crush and swallow.
