i am currently using Blue basking lamps in both my leo cage and BP cage. But they are both in my room and disrupt my sleep sometimes. And seein as how i wake up at 4 in the morning every day i need sleep. I have a couple questions about CHE's for those who use and have used them.

Do they put out the same amnt of heat as a similar wattage blue bulb (more specifically a 75 watt exo terra blue bulb)?
if they dont do they put out more or less heat?
how wide is the heat element (ie. diameter of the heating surface)?
what size dome lamp do they need?
what type of CHE last the longest (in hours)?

they put out the same amount of heat and very little red light and they shouldnt intterupt your sleep. They only cost about 6-7 bucks.

To me a CHE puts out more heat per watt than a bulb. They are about 3 inches diameter disc. I put mine in 8" domes with ceramic bases (a must) I don't even know what brands I have but I will say that they have been in use for years and no burn out. Beats the heck out of replacing red bulbs all the time.

Haven't we warned you about tampering with the structure of a chaotic system?

You will more than likely (from what I've heard) end up with a drop in humidity with the CHE.
