Waxworm care and breeding...

beardielover13 Mar 20, 2004 07:30 PM

I bought some waworms the other night from the pet store and my beardies love them. What is the basic care for them? I pla on starting to breed them becasue they are $5 for 50 of them. They are also a good fat source for my female when she's gravid. Thanks.

they aren't very nutritious at all, you should only use them as a treat. And superworms would be better for gravid females than waxworms.

I know, but my dragons love them and I could sell them to pet stores we have around town for some extra $$$.

Its not too hard but be prepared for some failures and don't get discouraged. If you have or know any bee keepers in your area don't tell them you are breeding waxworms(larva of the greater bee moth) otherwise you'll make some quick enemies
