Boa , is he hungry or maybe just "riding the short bus"?

I have a large (8') columbian male. I have finally got him switched to f/t jumbos! I acquired him because he was a "throw-away" & had a bit of a nasty temperment. He is better now. However, today after he swallowed his rat he acted like he was still hungry. His tongue was rapidly flicking & he picked up a scent on the side of his body. All of a sudden he opened his mouth & took a bite, he let go pretty quick. I am not sure if this means he is still hungry or if he is just a little "special". I have never seen a snake do that before. He is eating 1 jumbo f/t rat per week. Should I try 2 a week?

you might try a rabbit every 2 weeks if he's 8ft...
