madagascar cat eyed snake?

coluguy Mar 20, 2004 08:25 PM

I just got 1.1 madagascar cat eyed snake. I dont think they are boiga but im not sure... can someone give me a little info on them? Even just the scientific name would help, i cant find anything on them.... i read about a boiga ssp. that is set up hot and dry and they are supposed to be really mellow snakes, which mine are, but im not sure if the hot/dry part is right... any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

KS

The scientific name is easy to remember- Madagascarophis colubrina.

I don't think there's any part of Madagascar that's dry, it's mostly equatorial rainforest from what I've gathered. I'd keep them at moderate humidity levels at least until you find out more about them. If all else fails you can keep them in similar conditions to other more commonly kept Madagascar animals like the giant hognoses, I suppose.

I agree with the above conditions. They are VERY HARDY. Mine started on baby geckos but quickly graduated to pinkies. I had what they call the silver phase. He was a nasty little fellow...so fierce at 6". I kept him till he was well over a foot and then traded him.
