R.I.P. Abrahms...

athos_76 Mar 20, 2004 10:47 PM

My little tank, Abrahms died this morning. I woke up to find his tank a mess, and he was lethargic and like a rag doll. I went straight to the vet and as I was going, he was spasming and gasping. When I got to the vet, I put him on the table, and he spasmed one last time and died.

He was only a year old, and will be missed by all that knew him. It came as a great shock, and I'm still kind of numb over it. His sister doesn't realize he's gone since theyve been in seperate tanks for 7 months. But this house is alot quieter without him.. Whenever we would walk into the snake room he would make a ruckus asking for food or attention.

Now this house is empty...

Bummer, I'm really sorry for your loss. Did the vet have any ideas as to what may have caused this?

Well, the vet told me it could have been intestinal blockage, or he choked somehow. I fed him on thursday, and on friday he was fine, but the vet said something might have blocked off part of the intestines, and his system could have shut down.
Or, but a necropsy from this vet would cost too much, and I think its better to leave my little tank to himself. I can't see him getting cut open.
I think I've drawn my limit on animals for now. I'll upgrade the enclosures for my remaining critters, and make their homes the best my money and hands can make.

i'm sorry for your loss. its hard to lose anything, especially an animal in which you care so much for and put so much work into.
