EGG QUESTION

thegeckolady Mar 21, 2004 12:54 AM

hi,

how long after the egg "sweats" is it suppose to hatch?
i had a few eggs recently that began to sweat and go down around their hatching time. i waited and waited and still no one hatched. finally the eggs began to turn brown and become moldy.
i finally opend the eggs up only to discover that there were fully formed babies inside them. Why did the babies die? And how can i tell the diffence, if the egg will hatch or is simpley dying.

thanks

If the egg sweats and nothing hatches for 24 hours. I'd say cut it open a little bit, and see if the gecko is alive by lightly poking it with some tweezers. If it moves, it's alive. Also make sure your humidity is correct.
