Can someone please explain what stage ovulation happens? Does this mean the female releases her eggs to be fertilized or are they already fertilized at this point? How soon after ovulation is the 30 day pre-lay shed?

Ovulation is the fertilization and movement of eggies into the oviduct. That's why you see the swelling. They are all bunched up.

Generally females shed 17 days after ovulation and lay 27 days after pre-lay shed. On average females lay 44 days after ovulation, but I like to countdown from the pre-lay shed.

What is the correct term for a female that has bred a few times then you catch her looking bloated and lying upside down?
I've only had 1 female from 5 total all 2000+ grams do this for this season.
The other 4 have bred atleast 3 times, but it seems nothing has happened.
The one female that was looking huge and lying upside down has went back to normal size. There seems to be not much going on with her anymore, except the fact that she is still off-feed.

She is laying inverted and she looks to be 'building'. If they are still 'laying cold' then chances are they are still building towards ovulation. I have several that are doing that right now but donot display the lump prior to ovulation. It depends on the female. Some seem to show more than others.
