I've been bitten before by my mali but it was by mistake. I was hand-feeding him and he took too big a bite from the food I was offering him. The bite feels a lot more like a painful pinch but it isn't bad at all. It shouldn't even draw blood. Uros, being vegetarian lizards, have flatter teeth for grinding up tough plant matter. They don't have the sharp, cutting teeth that the carnivorous lizards have. Since only plant matter is ingested, I don't really worry about dangerous mouth bacteria. I simply wash my hands with soap and water. I do use polysporin (same as neosporin) on the damaged skin just in case. Otherwise, no worries.

Hope this helps.

A full bite of an adult can be quite severe-despite of the lack of teeth. At least much more than a tokay bite. Watch your malis munching on dried corn and see how easily they crack it and you get the picture.

I have been bit by both of my females. They though my finger was something to eat. I would have to say that it is like a hard pinch but not anything very harmful or severe. I had an in indent in my finger for about an hour but nothing else. Afterwards My Mali almost looked sorry for doing it and I have to say seems more careful.

I used to have a bunch of acanthinurus that I raised from baby to adult size. I used to keep pvc pipe in there cages for hides open on one end with a cap on the other. Well they would always go in and go to sleep head first so if I needed to look at them I would just put my hand over the open end and let them slide into my hand. One day one was in tail first and I let him slide out into my hand and he latched onto one of my fingers and watch out! The pvc hit the ground but the lizard held on for at least 3-4 minutes until he was able to bit through my finger and take a nice mouth sized chunk that he swallowed down. Needless to say they can inflict a serious bite and I was always much more cautious when trying to get them out of their hides.

I was only bitten once, by an ornate. I just got him and really was not paying attention to body language, so even though he was doing the uro dance, I picked him up, much to my dismay. An ice cube got him to let go right away. Fortunately, just a pinched finger. I did learn my lesson, pay attention...and it hurts!

Yes, and just like everyone else it was accidental. My wound was pretty painful though. I was bitten by a fully grown adult male Mali (16 inches long and 3 pounds heavy). He was going for some greens in my hand and he bit the tip of my finger, and the resulting wound was not unlike a staple gun. I literally had a hole punched in the tip of my finger

To compare it to the worst bites I have had, it was bad, but not the worst (Burmese Python, Black & Gold Tegu... ouch)
