Collared lizard with Eumeces schneideri?

Firenze Mar 21, 2004 02:34 PM

Hey

Is this combination reasonable?
Can they live thogether?, I didn't see any signs of stress
1 of the collared lizards is a bit more shy than before.

In 6 weeks they will get a new enclosure 160cm with 60cm with 50 cm

Do you think that they can easily live together in this bigger enclosure. 3 collared lizards and one Eumeces schneideri

thnx

NO WAY ! Schneider's Skinks have been known to bite pretty hard, I don't know how yours behaves but, it really does not matter, they should not be housed together.

Species are different, bacteria's they carry are different. The skink does eat bugs mainly, but his diet should also consist of maybe canned cat food, veggies, fruits.

I sure hope you seperate them before 6 weeks. I would put the skink in a rubbermaid bin, with lighting of some kind, until I got my new enclosure, if it were me !

I wish you alot of luck whatever you decide , they are your lizards. I'm just telling you what I have learned.

Keep us updated !

I really understand your point

But they have lived together for 2 years and they look Wonderfull.
I also don't have the material to house him alone..

en the skink is absolutely not aggresive, he had never bitten anything, only crickets :P

I give the skink also fruit and stuff out my hand because he is very tame.

it appears you have already decided it was just fine. How big is the skink? I've seen collareds eat large earless and side-botched lizards before with no problems. Post some pics of them.

Hey John

The skink is bigger then the collared lizards, and they never look agressive to eachother.

I post soon pic's of them
