That male looks to have lots of black tristis blood in it. But please, that does not make it a hybrid, remember black tristis and freckles are the same species.

About the size, husbandry is more then likely what has caused that individual to be so small. Actually Black tristis are bigger then V.t.o's, normally. FR

Hi Frank.

I have also thought maybe there is a lot of tristis tristis blood in the animal, but here in europe, there are only very few tristis tristis, so I have doubts that this animal contain most DNA from tristis tristis.

Maybe he is only 40CM because og the way he has been kept, that is likely.

But I also think the animal has very unique ocelli marking, somewhat different from both tristis tristis and t. orientalis.

He is though very beautiful.

Maybe he is a mix from tristis and orientalis, but I have to contact the breeder to get some more babies.

The ocelli marking resembles to those of the read-headed orientalis form. Which are also availible here in europe.

Would it be possible for you to post a few pics. of your tristis tristis.

cheers,
Rasmus
