Ant identificatino anyone?

cable_hogue Jun 12, 2003 12:03 AM

These guys are all over around the house. There are also pleanty of big black Pogo's. I am curious if these are the argentine or if these are native? If I understand what I have read, the argentine are the tiny black guys that get into your flower pots or under your bricks or just about anywhere else.
Please forgive the poor pictures. I can do better if these don't work.
All comments appreciated.

Cheers!

:Hello Cable.
These look like they might be Argentine ants, but they also look like Messor (Veromessor) pergandi. If they are Messor pergandi, they are native, but Coast HLs do not eat them. Desert HLs eat them sometimes, and the Flattails eats them often. If you can get a picture of the nest , that will help also.
