Any one breeding Calotes emma? My female is gravid and I was wondering about incubation specifics.

I have not had any experience with Calotes but if you don't find your answer I will try to look them up tonight and see what I can find. I would recommend that if you haven't already done so you post this question to the general lizard forum. There are a few people there who seem to be able to answer a lot of questions. I wish you luck with the eggs, it is always wonderful to see some of these imports successfully kept and bred in captivity.

my book says; Females from southern Thailand laid four to six eggs (maximum of 12 eggs).

At an average temp of 77 to 82°F (25 to 28°C) they should hatch after 62-74 days.

At 66 to 71° (19 to 22°C) they should hatch after 100 days.

The book didn't say anything about humidity but since they are forest dwellers who choose sunny forest edges near running streams I would think that humidity wouldn't be critical. My guess is that if you keep them in a moist substrate in a simple box someplace with an appropriate temperature range you should have a good chance of incubating the eggs.

Do let us know how this goes and if you get hatchlings by all means POST PICS!!
