Male Ball hasn't started feeding yet after the winter

Gary42 Mar 21, 2004 09:15 PM

Hope to get some help with my '02 male Ball. Have had the pair since late summer '02. Never much of any problems feeding. Both male and female stopped feeding around Oct last year (as expected) and the female started back about 3 weeks ago. Have kept both of them separate in the same room, so conditions are the same for both. Do some of your snakes take some time to get started feeding again in the spring? Any advice on how to get him started again?

He seems still to have decent weight, shed about a month ago, looks healthy, but is not very active (although the female isn't either, and she still eats well)...I have offered him food (live or frozen) once a week when I feed her, but he doesn't even act interested.

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't expect a mature male to be eating right now. I won't even bother to try to feed any of mine until maybe May.
