Salvator eggs

Bloodbat Mar 21, 2004 09:18 PM

I came home from Kansas this evening and discovered I had predicted correctly: Mushu laid her eggs Saturday night. She was going to lay them Friday night but did not find the dirt to her liking and did not find my presence to her enjoyment (I believe the former was more important than the latter as she has tolerated my presence in the past). I fixed the dirt and she laid. 13 eggs all of which look pretty good. She might have 1 or 2 still in her, but I cannot tell. She ate early on Saturday, but is definitely hungry now. 200 days from now...

This may be my last salvator clutch for a while as I need to find a new male for her. This may not happen before she cycles again. We shall see.

Pics coming.... eventually.

Hey Bat, first, congrats again! Secondly, what did you do to "fix" the dirt for her? Was it too dry, too wet? Enquiring minds want to know. How are the rubbery-mouthed babies doing now? Are the supplements helping at all? Billy

Fixing the dirt consisted of me hosing it down with water. This increased the humidity in the room as well as making the dirt more suitable for digging and less dusty.

The rubbery jawed babies are doing better. They still have some issues with the jaws, but they are both eating on their own (they always were so this is not a change) and seem to be improving. They appear to be moving a bit faster and more steadily rather than the clumsy movements from before.
