They are very skittish. They require incredible amounts of patience to tame, and you only have a shot at that if you get a baby or one that has been handled properly from a baby. They are not big on biting, but they are big on scratching and running away from you.
On the other hand, I have never heard of a Timmy that was a bad eater and the housing is not that difficult to set up. Although you should take into consideration that they're semi-arboreal and it might be hard to find a commercial aquarium that would be the right shape. But you could build a really awesome cage if you think that's fun (I do).
They are also pretty hardy in other aspects. But their natural disposition is to hate handling and you may or may not be able to gain their trust.

Eryx - All the fun of a boa in a convenient pocket size!
Good advice! I've had my pair of Timors for almost a year and a half, what I did is converted a 4'x2'x2' shipping crate into a vertically oriented cage. Sealed the wood and caulked the seams, installed a plexiglass removable front, and put basking shelves, a couple of half logs, and branches inside it, with 2 heat lamps, one daytime T-Rex ActiveUV heat lamp and one 75 watt nighttime bulb. I must be doing something right, because they've produced their first clutch of eggs about 8 weeks ago.
