Backyard toads!

spycspider Jun 12, 2003 12:59 AM

Hi everyone,

Heheh...so my house has got this small little garden pool and apparently several toads have(not quite sure what, most likely B. woodhousei; perhaps B. houstonensis )begun claiming it as their orgy ground just tonight. They are so loud!! And I have no idea where they're all coming from; suddenly, my whole patio is full of males trying to vocally outdo each other.

I'm thrilled my backyard attracts them (always wanted to have amphibians visit my home ever since I was a kid) but I'm not sure how well my neighbors appreciate their concerts. Does anyone know how long this should last? It hasn't rained in months in the Houston area and only poured recently. Heheh..I'll have to make sure the neighbors don't complain.

hehehe...most likely NOT B. houstonensis...though I'd be pretty honored. =)

If they were Houston it would be pretty cool seeing as I *think* they are having real trouble. My field guide is too old to have Houston in it.
