incubation humidity

kriminaal Mar 22, 2004 06:01 AM

I'm having problems getting my Hovabator's humidity up to 90 percent for my Mali eggs.I've sealed it off, added water to both trays, added another dish of water and still it is only at 70 percent.Does anyone have any ideas to what else I can do?

Have you checked your humidity gauge's accuracy? Try checking it against another gauge to see if the calibration is off.

Good luck with those eggs

thanks! I've been doing everything except the easiest I didn't even think of. You were right my gauge was off by 20 percent.

Are you sure you want your humidity that high? I successfuly hatched malis eggs at a much lower humidity. Like in the 30-40 percent range. Uro eggs need low humidity high temp. If there is too much humidity they very easily and quickly mold. My female should lay her eggs within a couple of weeks so i am starting to set up my hovabator too. Good luck with your malis eggs.
