Will geckos eat any type of fish, say as a treat or something?
Just kinda crossed my mind since garter snakes like some fish.
Thanks

leo's are not just insectivorious (is that a word?) as they will eat pinky mice and other lizards as well. as far as feeding them fish, i would imagine they would eat the fish, i really wouldn't suggest it for a few reasons:
1. fish are really bony. i think that leos might have a really hard time digesting all those bones, and i would be afraid that they would injure themselves on those sharp little bones. pinky mice are different as they are just born and their bones aren't hard yet. as for other lizards...well, i know they eat them, but i wouldn't feed them to them myself!
2. disease. i would be afraid of buying some of those feeder fish at the pet store because there are always a bunch of them floating around in there dead. i wouldn't want to feed my little leo something with ick or fin rot or some other horrible fish disease. i just wouldn't subject him to it if i didn't have to. i don't really know why that is different with turtles or snakes, but i think with leos i would avoid it.
3. leos are desert lizards. they don't eat fish in the wild, so i wouldn't feed them fish in captivity.
just my opinion, hope i helped, and if anyone can correct me anywhere then i would love to hear it!
later,
amanda
I hear feeder fish are the nastiest things in the world, they have all kinds of parasites and stuff. Well i guess depending on the pet store. I doubt geckos would enjoy the taste/moistness of them either.
No they won't and plus, fish can carry parasites that could be bad for your gecko.
